In 1986, the Buena Vista PTA found that there was a need for before and after school childcare for the working parents of Buena Vista School's students.  As an "arm" of the BVPTA, our center provided supervised care on campus for about 30 students.  Through the years, the need for this kind of program grew within its diverse community.  The Club and its community continued to grow.  In 1999, we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) ourselves and became The Buena Vista Children's Center, Inc., doing business as The Buena Vista Club.  Our program had evolved into not just a "babysitting" facility, but a fully licensed non-profit center that implements a full curriculum for our 150 average daily attending students.  To date, we serve 200+ families in this community.  We offer an extension of what they learn during classroom time and guide them through necessary social skills for growth and everyday life.  Buena Vista Club has the "old neighborhood" feeling within the safe confines of this campus.

what we do

Our center, first and foremost, provides a safe environment.  The activities offered to the children are age-appropriate , stimulating and fun.  We present a variety of activities that the children can choose from each day.  this program is professionally staffed with fully qualified teachers and aides with appropriate training, experience and personalities.  All our our staff are finger-printed and have DOJ/FBI- cleared background checks in order to work on the premises.

how we do

We are open from 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.   We are open when the school is closed during vacation breaks and in-service days for the faculty so that parents do have to miss work and stay home with their children.  Our daily schedule is consistent with the school's schedule and includes breakfast time, staggered Kindergarten pickup, sign in and sign-up for activities, Homework Club, a healthful snack time and activitiy time for smaller groups.  These projects and activities are quite diverse and range from structured art study to organized games.  Our curriculum is multi-leveled and hands-on.

Our staff is diverse, creative and energetic.  The themes we follow reflect what is current in our students' social and ethnic lives as well.  We have something for everybody so they can truly identify with those themes and perhaps learn something new.  We strive to meet the goals we've set to make your child's experience a positive learning and socializing extension fo school with experiences they will remember forever!
